A Peek Inside the Lesson

This is the real lesson text your child hears, read aloud by a friendly voice.

Kinds of Weather

Weather is what the air outside is like each day.

It can be sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy or snowy.

We wear different clothes for different weather.

Hot and Cold

A thermometer tells us how hot or cold it is.

When it's hot, the red line goes up. When it's cold, it goes down.

The sun warms the air, the land and the water.

Rain and Puddles

Rain falls from clouds and makes puddles.

After the rain, puddles slowly dry up. Where does the water go?

The sun warms the water and it goes up into the air. It evaporates!

For parents

Try It at Home

Learning sticks best when kids use it in real life. Here are simple ideas from this course.

Parent Tip

Make a weather chart for one week. Each morning your child draws the weather and decides what to wear.

Dress for the Weather

  1. Look outside each morning for a week.
  2. Draw the weather on a chart.
  3. Which weather did you see the most?

Weather changes every day, so we choose the clothes that fit it.

Thermometer Hunt

  1. Ask a grown-up for a thermometer.
  2. Read it inside, then outside in the sun.
  3. Was the line higher or lower outside?

A thermometer measures how hot or cold it is. The sunny window was warmest.

Puddle Race

  1. After it rains, find two puddles: one sunny, one shady.
  2. Draw around each with chalk.
  3. Check every hour. Which one shrinks faster?

Warm sunshine makes puddles dry up faster. The water goes up into the air.
