1. Who We Are
SkillBloom is an online learning platform with lessons, quizzes and games for children in grades 1 to 6. SkillBloom is operated by Salaheddine Mourid, a sole proprietor trading as SkillBloom ("SkillBloom", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact: support@skillbloomkids.com.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website and to any SkillBloom app.
2. Our Approach to Children's Privacy
SkillBloom is designed for children, so we follow the rules that protect children's information, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and the privacy laws of the other countries where we operate.
- We only collect information from parents. A parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over signs up, agrees to this policy, and then adds their children. Children cannot create an account, and we never ask a child for personal information.
- We collect as little as possible about children: a first name or nickname, a grade, and their learning progress.
- Children cannot share personal information on SkillBloom. There is no chat, no messaging, no public profile, no photo or video upload, and no voice recording.
- No ads for children. We do not show advertising, and we never use children's information for advertising or marketing.
- Parents stay in control. You can see, change or delete your child's information at any time (see Your Rights).
If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's consent, please contact us at support@skillbloomkids.com and we will delete it.
3. Information We Collect
From parents
- Account details: your full name, username, email address and password. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form, and we can never see them.
- Account type: whether you have an individual account (1 child) or a family account (up to 3 children).
- Google sign-in: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Subscription details: your plan, subscription status and billing dates. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our online reseller and Merchant of Record: Paddle collects your card and billing details under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages you send us, for example support requests.
About children (provided by the parent)
- First name or nickname, shown in the app so your child knows it's their profile. You do not need to use a full or real name.
- Grade level (1 to 6), so we show the right courses.
Created while children learn
- Learning progress: lessons and levels completed, quiz and game answers and scores, stars, XP and rewards earned, and the time spent on activities.
Voice-overs only play audio that reads lessons aloud. SkillBloom never uses the microphone or camera.
Collected automatically
- Technical information needed to run and secure the service: IP address, browser and device type, and error logs.
- Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in (see Cookies).
- Website usage statistics: we use Google Analytics to see how visitors use our website, for example which pages are visited, the type of device and the approximate country. It uses cookies (see Cookies). We never send children's names, grades or progress to Google Analytics, and we don't use it for advertising.
4. How We Use Information
We use information only to:
- create and manage your account and your children's profiles;
- deliver lessons, quizzes and games at the right grade level;
- save progress, stars and rewards, and show progress to parents;
- process your subscription and payments;
- send you account emails (for example, confirming your email, resetting your password, receipts and progress reports);
- provide customer support;
- keep SkillBloom safe, secure and working, and prevent fraud;
- improve our courses and games using combined statistics that do not identify any child; and
- meet our legal obligations.
We will only send you marketing emails if you agree to them, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We never send marketing to children.
5. What We Never Do
- We never sell or rent personal information.
- We never show ads or use targeted (behavioral) advertising.
- We never let children chat with or contact other users.
- We never make any child's information public.
- We never use children's information to build marketing profiles.
6. Legal Bases (UK and EEA)
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on these legal bases to use personal information:
- Contract: to provide the SkillBloom service and your subscription.
- Consent: for your children's information, which you provide as their parent or guardian, and for optional marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure and to improve it using statistics, where this does not override your or your child's rights.
- Legal obligation: for example, keeping billing records for tax purposes.
9. How Long We Keep Information
- We keep account, child and progress information while your account is open.
- If you delete a child's profile or your whole account, we delete the information within 30 days. Encrypted backups are overwritten on a regular schedule after that.
- We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting laws require. These records do not include children's information.
- We may delete accounts that have been inactive for a long time. We will email you first.
10. How We Protect Information
We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords and database access rules that let each parent see only their own family's data. Only staff who need access to do their job can reach personal information.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
11. Your Rights and Choices
As a parent or guardian, you can at any time:
- see the information we hold about you and your children;
- correct it or update it;
- download a copy of it;
- delete a child's profile, or your whole account and all of your family's data;
- withdraw your consent, which stops us collecting more information about your child; and
- unsubscribe from marketing emails.
How to request deletion
Email support@skillbloomkids.com from the email address on your SkillBloom account and tell us what to delete (a child's profile, or your whole account). We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We delete the information within 30 days and confirm by email. Billing records kept by Paddle for tax purposes are handled under Paddle's privacy policy.
For any other request above, email support@skillbloomkids.com. We reply within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires.
12. Your Rights Where You Live
United States
We follow COPPA for children under 13. Residents of some states (for example, California) have extra rights to know about, correct and delete their information. We do not sell or "share" personal information for targeted advertising.

You have rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, including the right to object to or restrict how we use your information. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local data protection authority.

Please contact us first. We would like the chance to fix any problem.
13. International Transfers
Our database is hosted in [Supabase region, e.g. the United States]. Our service providers may process information in other countries. When information leaves the UK, EEA, Canada or Australia, we use legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses so it stays protected.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and we will email you before any important change takes effect. If a change affects how we use children's information, we will ask for your consent again where the law requires.
