For parents

Try It at Home

Learning sticks best when kids use it in real life. Here are simple ideas from this course.

Parent Tip

Look for animal homes outside: a bird's nest, a spider web, an anthill. Talk about why each animal lives there.

Land or Water?

  1. Look at animal pictures in a book.
  2. Sort them into land animals and water animals.
  3. Can you find an animal that lives in both, like a frog?

Animals live where they can find food, water and a safe place.

Animal Race

  1. Have a race with a grown-up: walk like a turtle, then run like a cheetah!
  2. Which was faster?
  3. Talk about which body parts help you run.

Animal bodies help them live. Long legs help cheetahs run, and shells keep turtles safe.

Egg to Hen

  1. Find a book or video about chicks hatching.
  2. Draw the four steps on a paper plate, in a circle.
  3. Tell a grown-up the story of the chick.

A chicken's life goes egg, chick, hen, and then a new egg. It's a cycle!
