A Peek Inside the Lesson

This is the real lesson text your child hears, read aloud by a friendly voice.

Parts of a Plant

The roots grow under the ground. They drink water and hold the plant tight.

The stem holds the plant up and carries water to the leaves.

The leaves catch sunlight to make food for the plant.

The flower makes seeds, so new plants can grow.

What Plants Need

Plants need sunlight, water, air and soil to grow.

Leaves use sunlight to make food. No sun means no food!

Plants often turn their leaves toward the light.

From Seed to Plant

A tiny seed has a baby plant inside, with food to help it start.

With water and warmth, the seed sprouts. A root goes down and a shoot comes up.

The plant grows bigger and makes flowers.

Flowers make new seeds, and the cycle starts again!

For parents

Try It at Home

Learning sticks best when kids use it in real life. Here are simple ideas from this course.

Parent Tip

Plant a bean in a clear cup with a damp paper towel. Your child checks it each day and draws the roots and shoot as they grow.

Build a Plant

  1. Pull up a weed with a grown-up and look at it.
  2. Find the roots, stem and leaves.
  3. Draw it and label each part.

Plants have roots, a stem, leaves and flowers. Each part has a job.

Sun Test

  1. Grow 2 bean plants in cups.
  2. Put one on a sunny window and one in a dark cupboard.
  3. Water both the same and compare after a week.

Plants need sunlight to make food. More sun helped our plants grow taller.

Seed Cycle

  1. Put a bean on a wet paper towel in a clear bag.
  2. Tape it to a window.
  3. Watch the root and shoot grow each day!

A plant grows from a seed, makes flowers, and the flowers make new seeds.
