A Peek Inside the Lesson

This is the real lesson text your child hears, read aloud by a friendly voice.

Multiplying by 10 adds a zero: 34 × 10 = 340. By 100 adds two zeros: 34 × 100 = 3,400.

Break numbers apart: 23 × 4 = 20 × 4 + 3 × 4 = 80 + 12 = 92.

For 2-digit by 2-digit, use the area model: 21 × 13 = 200 + 60 + 10 + 3 = 273.

Estimate first: 48 × 21 is about 50 × 20 = 1,000. The answer should be close!

Parent Tip

Ask how many hours are in 14 days, or how many legs 23 spiders have. Let your child draw an area model to find the answer.
