Why it matters

Why This Matters for Kids

  • Making 10 is a superpower

Pairs that make 10, like 6 + 4 and 7 + 3, are used again and again to add bigger numbers fast.

  • Math with meaning

Story problems show kids that addition describes real things, like friends joining a game or apples in a basket.

  • Fact fluency

Knowing small facts by heart frees kids' working memory for harder problems in grade 2 and beyond.

A Peek Inside the Lesson

This is the real lesson text your child hears, read aloud by a friendly voice.

Adding means putting groups together. 2 apples and 3 apples make 5 apples!

We write it like this: 2 + 3 = 5. The plus sign means add.

Count on from the bigger number. For 5 + 2, start at 5 and count up: 6, 7. The answer is 7!

Adding 0 does not change the number. 4 + 0 = 4.

Pairs that make 10 are super helpful. 6 + 4 = 10. Can you find more pairs?
